Examining Codes of Ethics

I-1.3  To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.
This ideal of NAEYC Code of Ethics is important to me because I believe all children are special and deserve to be loved for who they are. In my professional life, I believe children should be treated as individuals and their qualities, abilities and potential should be cultivated and nurtured to its highest.   “All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them”-Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

I-2.2  To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.
Another important ideal of NAEYC Code of Ethics, families have a major impact on children’s views towards education and their healthy development. Establishing trust and partnerships with families create a healthy system of support that influences their learning and development. In my professional life, I care about the families I encounter and I make an effort to get to know the families.  I encourage the families to view our relationship as a partnership to help their child reach their highest potential.

The DEC Code of Ethics- Professional and Interpersonal Behavior- 3. We shall strive for the highest level of personal and professional competence by seeking and using new evidence based information to improve our practices while also responding openly to the suggestions of others.
I desire to be a lifelong learner, staying informed with current issues and changes in my profession. Continuing my education and professional development is essential as well as learning from others and being teachable.
